On Monday, April 26, 2010, an evening of lectures and presentations about the life of the ever-memorable Bishop Basil (Rodzianko) will be held at the Great Lecture Hall of the Moscow Theological Academy with the blessing of His Holiness, Patriarch KIRILL of Moscow and All Russia.
Bishop Basil (Rodzianko) of blessed memory was consecrated to be Vicar Bishop of the Primate of the Orthodox Church in America in 1980 and given the title of “Bishop of Washington.” Later that same year, Bishop Basil was nominated to become ruling hierarch of the Orthodox Church in America’s Diocese of San Francisco and the West where he served until retirement.
Prior to his archpastoral ministry in the Orthodox Church in America as well as during and even well into retirement, Bishop Basil (Rodzianko) labored fervently in preaching the Word of God to those in the Soviet Union and then the Russian Federation. The work of Vladyka can be found at www.rodzianko.org.
A special bus will be made available to transport those wishing to attend the event for Bishop Basil from the Moscow Representation of the Orthodox Church in America (St Catherine the Great Martyr Church) to the Moscow Theological Academy and back after its conclusion. More information about transportation can be obtained by calling the parish secretary at (495) 959-1296.
