On Friday afternoon, January 22, 2010, the Laureates of the prestigious “Unity of Orthodox Peoples Award” from St. Vladimir Orthodox Theological Seminary traveled to the main office of the International Foundation for Unity of Orthodox Christian Nations to offer their gratitude to the foundation’s President, Professor Valery A. Alekseev and the Board of Directors for presenting their candidacy which was blessed by the Most Holy Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, KIRILL to receive the honor.
Also discussed during this final meeting between representatives of the Foundation and the Seminary were ways of continuing future cooperation between the two institutions which could work towards building unity among Orthodox peoples and Orthodox nations. In prayerful memory of the visit, the representatives from the St. Vladimir Orthodox Seminary presented an etched portrait of one of the school’s most well known Deans, Protopresbyter Alexander Schmemann. In turn, Professor Valery A. Alekseev presented the guests with the newest publications of the Foundation which focused on the theme of “Orthodox Unity in the Contemporary World.”
Accompanying the representatives of St. Vladimir Seminary, who were Archpriest John Behr, Dean; Archpriest Chad Hatfield, Chancellor; and Mr. Theodore Bazil, Associate Chancellor for Development; was Archimandrite Zacchaeus, Moscow Representative of the Orthodox Church in America.
