News | 14-01-05 Feast of the Circumcision of Our Lord - Visit to Davidova Pustyn

On Friday, January 14, the feast of the Circumcision of Our Lord Jesus Christ, and also the feast of Saint Basil the Great, Archimandrite Zacchaeus, Dean of St. Catherine the Great Martyr Church, along with members of the parish office staff traveled to Holy Ascension "Davidova" Pustyn in Chekova, Moscow region. The purpose of this visit was to begin preliminary plans for a parish pilgrimage to the monastery prior to the beginning of Great Lent.

Abbot of the monastery, Archimandrite Herman received the delegation with great joy and Christian hospitality. Upon arrival, the guests were offered a tour of the very beautiful monastery churches which were all only recently renovated. The monastery boasts of a collection of relics of more than 150 saints of the Church. It was an added blessing for the visitors from St. Catherine the Great Martyr Church to be able to venerate these numerous relics and offer prayers for the parish community.

Following the tour of the monastery, Archimandrite Herman took the pilgrims to the well of the Venerable David, the sainted founder of the monastery and its first abbot.

Also joining the visitors from St. Catherine the Great Martyr Church for this occasion were His Grace, the Right Reverend SAVA, Bishop of Krasnogorsk and Igumen Grigory, Abbot of the Holy Epiphany, "Staro-Golutvin" monastery.
