News | 20-07-03 Festal Services commemorating the 700th anniversary of the falling asleep of the righteous St. Prokopy of Ustug in the city of Veliky Ustug

The Representative of the Orthodox Church in America to the Moscow Patriarchate, Archimandrite Zacchaeus, by invitation of His Grace, Bishop Maximillian of Vologda and Veliky Ustug participated in the festal services in honor of the 700th anniversary of the falling asleep of the righteous St. Prokopy of Ustug in the city of Veliky Ustug.

The Divine Liturgy was held in the cathedral in dedicated to the saint's memory. His Grace, Bishop Maximillian led the festal Divine Liturgy along with His Grace, Bishop Tikhon of Archangelsk and Kholmogory.

Following the Divine Liturgy numerous clergy and thousands of faithful participated in a cross procession from the cathedral, through the town and to the monastery of Archangel Michael which is the historical place where the canonization of St. Prokopy was held. Following the cross procession a festal meal was offered by the city's civil authorities, during which Archimandrite Zacchaeus was able to offer words of greeting and congratulations on behalf of His Beatitude, Metropolitan HERMAN, Primate of the Orthodox Church in America.
