| 23-08-07 Final planning meeting for the celebration of the anniversary of St. Innocent of Moscow and Apostle to America held at St. Catherine the Great Martyr Church
On Thursday, August 23, 2007, the final planning meeting for the upcoming celebration marking the 210th Anniversary of the birth of John Popov (Saint Innocent Veniaminov) was held at Saint Catherine the Great Martyr Church – the Moscow Representation of the Orthodox Church in America.
Participating in the meeting was His Grace, Bishop ZOSIMA of Yakutsk and Lensk; Archimandrite Zacchaeus, Representative of the Orthodox Church in America to the Moscow Patriarchate; Professor Andrei B. Efimov, the Deputy Head of the Missionary Faculty of Saint Tikhon Orthodox Theological University; and support staff from the Yakutsk diocesan chancery and the OCA Representation church. During the course of the meeting, the schedule of speakers and the themes of the various topics for the Round Table Discussion were confirmed.
The celebration of the 210th Anniversary of the birth of Saint Innocent – Metropolitan of Moscow and Apostle to America will begin with the celebration of the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy led by Archbishop SERPHIM of Ottawa and Canada at Saint Catherine the Great Martyr Church (ulitsa B. Ordynka 60/2) at 10:00am. At 2:00pm a Round Table Discussion entitled “Saint Innocent – Apostle to America and Siberia” organized by the Missionary Faculty of Saint Tikhon University will be held in the University’s Conference Hall (ulitsa Novokuznetskaya 23). Scheduled to make presentations during the Round Table are Archbishop SERAPHIM; Bishop ZOSIMA; Archimandrite Zacchaeus; United States Consul General John Stepanchuk; Professor Andrei B. Efimov; Representatives of the organization “Russian America” and others.
A special blessing for those gathered at the planning meeting was that His Grace, Bishop ZOSIMA brought with him a reliquary containing the holy relics of Saint Innocent of Moscow and Apostle to America which will be available for veneration by the faithful during the course of the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy on Sunday and will also be carried in procession around the temple following the intercessory moleben to the Saint Innocent.
