| 29-06-08 First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad visits St. Catherine the Great Martyr Church
On Sunday evening, June 29, 2008 , His Eminence, Metropolitan HILARION, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad visited St. Catherine the Great Martyr Church – the Moscow Representation of the Orthodox Church in America .
His Eminence was met at the entrance to the church by the Representative of the Orthodox Church in America to the Moscow Patriarchate, Archimandrite Zacchaeus together with parish cleric, Priest Daniel Lugovoi and members of the parish staff. After being presented with a bouquet of roses, His Eminence was led into the temple by Archimandrite Zacchaeus where Metropolitan HILARION venerated the holy altar table and the icons in the parish. From the amvon, Archimandrite Zacchaeus welcomed the honored guest on behalf of His Beatitude, Metropolitan HERMAN of All America and Canada and presented him with an icon of St. Catherine the Great Martyr. During his welcoming address, Archimandrite Zacchaeus mentioned that it was an honor for the parish to welcome the ever-memorable Metropolitan LAURUS in their midst during his last visit to Moscow and that the visit of Metropolitan HILARION witnesses to the unity in Christ that the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad shares with the Autocephalous Orthodox Church in America.
Following the visit to the temple, a dinner was offered in Metropolitan HILARION’s behalf during which the clergy had the opportunity to share in informal conversation on a wide range of topics.
