News | 13-01-09 Fortieth Day Memorial Divine Liturgy and Panikhida for the Most Holy Patriarch ALEKSY of Moscow and All Russia

On Tuesday, January 13, 2009, the fortieth day of the falling asleep in the Lord of His Holiness, Patriarch ALEKSY of Moscow and All Russia, His Eminence, Metropolitan KYRILL of Smolensk and Kaliningrad and Locum Tenens of the Russian Orthodox Church celebrated the memorial Divine Liturgy and Panikhida for the newly departed Patriarch at Moscow’s Epiphany Cathedral.

Concelebrating the Divine Liturgy with the Patriarchal Locum Tenens were His Eminence, Metropolitan JUVENALY of Krutitsk and Kolomna and numerous hierarchs and clergy of the Russian Orthodox Church. Archimandrite Zacchaeus, Representative of the Orthodox Church in America to the Moscow Patriarchate also concelebrated the Divine Liturgy led by Metropolitan KYRILL. Following the Divine Liturgy together with the Hierarchs and Clergy of the Russian Orthodox Church, the Moscow Representatives of the Patriarchate of Alexandria (Bishop AFANASY); the Patriarchate of Antioch (Bishop NIPHON); and the Orthodox Church in America (Archimandrite Zacchaeus) also prayed at the panikhida before the tomb of His Holiness, Patriarch ALEKSY of Moscow and All Russia.

Later that evening, before the beginning of the All Night Vigil for the feast of the Circumcison of the Lord and St. Basil the Great, Archimandrite Zacchaeus, Dean and Priests Vadim Leonov and Daniel Lugovoi, parish clerics concelebrated a memorial service for Patriarch ALEKSY at St. Catherine the Great Martyr Church.

May His Holiness, Patriarch ALEKSY of Moscow and all Russia’s memory be eternal!
