News | 03-01-08 Funeral Services for Archpriest Viktor Grozovsky

On Tuesday, January 2, 2008, Archimandrite Zacchaeus, Dean of St. Catherine the Great Martyr church participated in the funeral services for the newly departed and ever-memorable Archpriest Viktor Grozovsky which were held at the St. Prince Vladimir Cathedral in St. Petersburg. The funeral was led by the Abbot of St. Alexander Nevsky Lavra, Archimandrite Nazary and concelebrated with over 30 priests and deacons.

Following the funeral service and procession around the church with the relics of Fr. Viktor, his body was brought to the Smolensk Cemetery where a litya for the departed was served and then the venerable archpriest was laid to rest near the chapel containing the holy relics of St. Xenia of Petersburg.

Afterwards a memorial meal was held where the family members together with the concelebrating clergy had the opportunity to reminisce about the numerous ways in which Fr. Viktor touched their lives and brought them closer to God.
