On Sunday, November 15, 2009, at 10:45am, after receiving the Sacrament of Holy Communion, His Holiness, PAVLE, Archbishop of Pec, Metropolitan of Belgrade and Karlovac, and Patriarch of Serbia fell asleep in the Lord at the Military Medical Academy in Belgrade.
Patriarch Pavle was admitted to the city's military hospital two years ago, as he reportedly suffered from heart and lung conditions. Patriarch Pavle was a respected theologian and linguist, known for personal humility and modesty. He was elected the Primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church during the fall of communism and the war in Bosnia followed by the fall of Slobodan Milosevic's regime.
Grant rest eternal and blessed repose, O Lord, to the soul of Thy servant, Patriarch PAVLE and make his memory to be eternal!
