On Friday, April 7, 2006, the Feast of the Annunciation of the Holy Theotokos, following the Divine Liturgy, humanitarian aid, in the form of food and toys were distributed to Moscow’s less fortunate. The recipients of the humanitarian aid consisted of eight families in which either single parents or both parents are unemployed and find it difficult to purchase the necessary items for daily life.
Mr. Namerud Negash, the parish’s Humanitarian Aid Coordinator, collected the food and toys from various organizations throughout Moscow, including the International Women’s Club and the non-for-profit foundation “Svyaz Pokolenie.” A representative of St. Petersburg-based non-profit organization Doctors to Children Yekaterina Vodopyan, who was visiting Moscow, participated in the distribution process and then met with Mr. Negash together with parish Dean, Archimandrite Zacchaeus and church warden, Mr. Sergei Alikov to discuss ways of future cooperation between the parish and Doctors to Children to aid in ministering to the homeless of Moscow.
