| 20-08-06 Humanitarian Aid from “Warm the Children” distributed to the needy of Moscow
On Sunday, August 20, 2006, following the Divine Liturgy at St. Catherine the Great Martyr Church, the Moscow Representation of the Orthodox Church in America, humanitarian aid, including warm winter clothes, backpacks, non-prescription medicine and school supplies were distributed to the needy of the city. The parish humanitarian aid and charities coordinator, Mr. Namerud Negash located several families, including those living under poverty level, as well as the homeless, that were in need of assistance and invited them to participate in the Sunday Divine Liturgy. Following the service, Mr. Negash, together with parish Dean, Archimandrite Zacchaeus and warden Sergei Alikov distributed the items donated by “Warm the Children”- an organized group of Orthodox Christians from parishes throughout New York and New Jersey, USA, who work together under the direction of Mrs. Barbara Nafranowicz in collecting goods to be given to the less-fortunate. The Representation of the Orthodox Church in America to the Moscow Patriarchate has been working closely with “Warm the Children” for several years in helping distribute these items donated with love and prayers to the needy of Moscow.
