On Monday, July 4, 2011, by invitation of the Ambassador of the United States of America, John Beyrle and his wife, Ms. Jocelyn Greene, Archimandrite Zacchaeus, the Representative of the Orthodox Church in America to the Moscow Patriarchate participated in a reception held at the Ambassador’s Moscow Residence, “Spaso House” in honor of the 235th Anniversary of the Independence of the United States of America.
Also participating in the event were Ambassadors of Sovereign Nations representing their countries in Russia, Diplomats from various countries, Representatives from the Russian Government and others.
Upon arrival, Father Zacchaeus was greeting by Ambassador Beyrle, who sincerely congratulated him on the Fourth of July celebration.
During the course of the reception, Archimandrite Zacchaeus had the opportunity to bid farewell to the Deputy Chief of Mission, Mr. Eric Rubin who has completed his diplomatic service in Russia and will return to work at the State Department in Washington, DC. Mr. Rubin was and will remain a close friend of St Catherine the Great Martyr Church – the Moscow Representation of the Orthodox Church in America.
