On Thursday evening, July 2, 2009, Archimandrite Zacchaeus, Representative of the Orthodox Church in America to the Moscow Patriarchate, by invitation of His Excellency, Mr. John Beyrle, Plenipotentiary and Ambassador Extraordinaire of the United States of America to the Russian Federation participated in a reception held in honor of the 233rd anniversary of US Independence Day.
The reception, which was held at “Spaso House,” a beautiful Neoclassical Revival building which has served as the official Residence of the US Ambassador in Moscow since 1933, attracted nearly 2000 guests from the international diplomatic, political, educational, public and religious societies in Russia.
During the course of the reception, Archimandrite Zacchaeus had the opportunity to congratulate Ambassador John Beyrle and his wife, Jocelyn Greene on the occasion of Independence Day and also to speak at length with many staff members of the US Embassy, including the Deputy Chief of Mission, Mr. Eric Rubin.
