On Monday, February 2, 2009, the members of the official Delegation of the Orthodox Church in America in the Episcopal rank – His Grace, Bishop TIKHON of Philadelphia and Eastern Pennsylvania and His Grace Bishop BENJAMIN of San Francisco and the West joined His Holiness, Patriarch KIRILL of Moscow and All Russia together with the Primates and Representatives of other Local Autocephalous Orthodox Churches at the Dormition Cathedral inside Moscow’s Kremlin for a Molieben of Thanksgiving to God for the newly enthroned Russian Patriarch.
Following the service of prayer, His Holiness, Patriarch KIRILL of Moscow and All Russia together with all hierarchs were offered a luncheon sponsored by the President of Russia, Mr. Dmitry A. Medvedev at the Kremlin Palace.
Later that day, the two OCA hierarchs were accompanied by Archimandrite Zacchaeus to visit the Church of the Resurrection of Christ where they had the opportunity to venerate the wonderworking icon of the Most Holy Theotokos, “Rescuer of the Perishing” that is housed there. This visit was very significant for His Grace, Bishop BENJAMIN inasmuch as his Diocesan Cathedral in Los Angeles is the only Church in North America dedicated to this wonderworking icon. |
