News | 10-07-07 Intensive renovation work on the frescoes at St. Catherine the Great Martyr Church begins

On Tuesday, July 10, 2007, intensive renovation work on the frescoes dating from the 18th and 19th centuries in the “trapeznaya” portion of St. Catherine the Great Martyr Church began under the direction of restoration specialist Mr. Mikhail Chistyakov. The work on this portion of the temple was approved on June 25, 2007 by the Specialist for the Restoration of Monuments and Decoration of Historic Sites of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation Mrs. Sofia M. Sorkina during a meeting of the Commission for the Renovation of the Frescoes at St. Catherine the Great Martyr Church.

It is expected that the work on the frescoes in this portion of the temple be completed by September, 2007. The faithful clergy and laity of St. Catherine the Great Martyr Church ask the prayers of all visitors to this site for a timely completion of the renovation of frescoes inside our temple!
