| 21-12-06 Interview about the history of the Sitka Icon of the Mother of God for the television channel “Kultura”
On Thursday, December 21, 2006 , Archimandrite Zacchaeus, Representative of the Orthodox Church in America to the Moscow Patriarchate gave an interview about the history and significance of the Wonderworking Icon of the Mother of God “Our Lady of Sitka” which will be aired on Russian television station “Kultura” in 2007.
The program will be entitled “The Emotional Gift. Vladimir Borovikovsky” and will be co-sponsored by the State Tretyakov Art Gallery and the Federal Agency for Culture and Cinematography in honor of 250 anniversary of the birth of artist Vladimir L. Borovikovsky, the famous St. Petersburg iconographer who painted the Icon of Our Lady of Kazan which in 1850 was donated to St. Michael the Archangel Cathedral in Sitka, Alaska, and has since become known as the “Sitka Icon of the Theotokos.”
